Descripción

The status of the Tanca Water-Cherenkov Detector (WCD), installed on the campus of the State University of Campinas, Brazil, will be presented. During the COVID-19 pandemic Tanca was out of operation and moisture inside the detector damaged some electronic components. This detector contains 11,400 liters of ultrapure water and three 9-inch diameter photomultiplier tubes. I will present the work that is being done to return this detector to continuous data acquisition and the first charge spectra obtained. These spectra show the muon peak of the local cosmic radiation, confirming the good functioning of the detector. The previous data acquisition system, which records only counts per second, and the new system with waveform digitization will be discussed.
