The purpose of Carlos Gabriel’s visit, as Chairman of the Capacity Building Panel, is to assess the academic, logistical, and institutional capacity of the School of Physics at Universidad Industrial de Santander to host a Macondo Workshop on Exoplanets and Galaxies in 2027. The visit will provide an opportunity to inspect the proposed teaching, working, and accommodation facilities and to consider alternative arrangements when appropriate.
A central objective will be to meet with the principal organisers and key members of the Local Organising Committee responsible for infrastructure, web support, catering, accommodation, and the planned workshop excursion. These meetings will address the preliminary budget, potential institutional and external collaborations, the identification of invited lecturers, and possible support from international organisations and agencies, particularly NASA and ESA. The visit will also help define the workshop's scientific leadership and identify opportunities to secure institutional or local support.
The main outcomes of the visit will be the preparation of three key documents required for the Capacity Building Panel's final evaluation of the workshop: a visit report, a detailed budget, and an action plan that defines responsibilities and milestones for the preparation and implementation of the 2027 Macondo Workshop.
